There are just soooo many great blogs out there. We know it can be hard to keep up with the ones you love, let alone find new ones. So to help you out, we’ve created a new weekly column here at JoeShopping.com called “The Blog Spotlight”!
Each week, we’ll cover a unique money-saving blog that’s doing something a little bit different than just your average penny-pinching blog. So if you have or know of a blog you’d like to submit for spotlight consideration, please shoot an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with all the info!

Check out their site and you’re guaranteed to learn something new that will save you buckets of time and, perhaps, buckets of money as well! Cathy was kind enough to take some time out to answer our questions.
How did you first get started blogging?
We started “for fun” nearly three years ago when we first found couponing with purpose and had no idea what we were walking in to!
What 3 words best describe your blog?
Fabulous Living on Less!
Okay, how about describing your blog in 5 sentences or less?
We teach people how to coupon. We’ve been teaching classes for the last 2+ years and now have our class on DVD! We blog about grocery stores in the Northwest, as well as national stores like Walgreens, Rite Aid, Target and Walmart.
What’s your favorite part about blogging?
The feedback we get from readers about how their lives have changed since we taught them how to coupon. And meeting blog readers in the store is so fun!
The hours! You’ll find us burning the midnight oil. It’s a competitive and fast-paced niche.
How has blogging helped you save money?
When you blog about saving money day in and day out, it’s hard not to live it too!
You seem to have graduated from the school of Extreme Couponing. What’s the best advice you can give a newbie looking to jump in?
Start slow! There is no need to purchase 20 boxes of toothpaste at the first sight of free toothpaste. The deals always come back! Slow and steady wins the race!
What were the biggest mistakes you made in your Extreme Couponing journey?
In the very beginning we bought too much cereal when we got it for $.87… not knowing if we would have waited a little longer, we could have gotten it free!
What’s THE best deal you ever snagged couponing?
FREE CEREAL! (My personal favorite!) We actually had to buy a piece of fruit to absorb the cost of the catalina [register coupon]. Bought 164 boxes of cereal for around $14. Sadly, it only lasted my family of nine 3 1/2 months.
How involved is your family with being frugal? You’ve got an entire team it looks like!
My kids are all about the coupons. In fact, they are responsible for buying their own school supplies and love watching the ads and getting the most bang for their buck. Monica and I have a team of seven other women who help us with this blog. It takes a village, you know!?
What’s the most ridiculously frugal thing you’ve ever done in your life? Something that’d make even you call yourself “cheap.”
Monica admits purchasing underwear for her kids at yard sales!
What’s the last good book you read?
Reading? What’s that? I used to read all the time! I haven’t read a book since last summer (which was the first time in about nine months)… Mockingjay (Hunger Games book 3)
