With The Avengers movie soaring into theaters this week, kids everywhere are getting amped up again about superheroes. If your child has been tying on towel capes and creating Captain America shields from garbage can lids, you’ll definitely want to get your little caped crusaders to an independent comic book store tomorrow, May 5, for Free Comic Book Day.
The event, which has been held annually since 2002, offers readers a chance to sample a comic book absolutely free. The free comics being given away feature characters from The Avengers, Peanuts, Star Wars, Transformers and more.
You’ll definitely want to stick around for more than just the free book, though, as each location will offer plenty of other free family fun. Comic writers and artists will be on hand to sign books, and there will also be a chance to participate in a variety of contests, giveaways, and activities. You’ll also have an opportunity to purchase some pretty cool collectible FCBD swag, including a commemorative T-shirt designed by DC comic artist Jim Lee.

Activities and books available may vary, so visit FreeComicBookDay.com for more information and to locate a participating store near you!
