Class, today I want to talk about something that we all need to know about: layering! Layering is the perfect way to take a simple outfit and make it fun and interesting.

My favorite way to incorporate layering is with cardigans because they go with absolutely everything and are lightweight. I tend to always be hot (hello, I live in the South!) and so I really cannot wear anything too heavy. Cardigans are the perfect in-between because they add a little coverage without adding too much clothing.

I love Target for their great choice of cardigans (and for a ton of other things). Neutral cardigans are a necessity, think black or white, since they can be paired with any and every color underneath. However, don’t be afraid to go with something a little more exciting. When shopping for cardigans, think bright colors, stripes and patterns.

You want pieces that are interesting and that can be paired with multiple tops so that you get the best bang for your buck. Isn’t that what we all want… better style for less money? Let’s look at a few of my current faves from Target.

Merona Womens Artist Lite Crewneck Cardigan – $24.99

If you are looking for something with a bright pop of color, you’ve found your winner! This color is perfect for Spring and bright colors are definitely “in” right now. The flower detail on the left side adds a little touch of femininity that I just adore. Try pairing bright colors with white pants/shorts.

Merona Womens V-Neck Artist Cardigan with Ruffle Polka Dot Trim – $24.99

Okay, really? Could there be any cuter cardigan in the world? I think not. This cobalt color would look great on any skin tone and with a lot of other “spring” colors. The little polka dot ruffle is super fun and flirty and adds the perfect detail to an outfit. This one is coming to my closet soon.

Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Boyfriend Cardigan – $19.99

Hello stripes! I love this cardigan for a few reasons. First off, the stripes and the colors are great and would add a little pop of color to any outfit. I also like the longer length of this one and the relaxed fit. It’s made to be a more “casual” type of cardigan. Paired with a plain t-shirt and a pair of jeans, this one is a winner!

Merona Womens Essential Crewneck Cardigan Sweater – $18

Don’t let this bright pattern fool you into thinking it’s a “grandma sweater.” This fun print would look great paired down with a simple shirt and a pair of jeans. Add a little skinny belt around the waist area and heads will turn. I love this fun pattern for Spring!

Those are just a few of my favorites. I could go on, but I think I’ll let y’all go explore for yourselves. Target has so many cardigans and a great choice of colors and details. They have several options with feminine details, like ruffles or lace, which I just love. I am and will always be a big lover of all things girly and feminine.
