New Releases: Video Games (January 24, 2011)

We recently started blogging weekly about hot items that are in-stock and shipping now from retailers in several categories, including Video Games, DVDs, Books and Music. Here are this week’s video game releases, for your thumb-numbing pleasure!

Dead Space 2Dead Space 2Buy Now!
After surviving a horde of space zombies called Necromorphs on a deserted spaceship, Space Engineer Isaac Clarke wakes up on another deserted spaceship with a horde of space zombies on it in this gory survival horror game. What are the odds? (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC)

Dead Space 2: Collector's EditionDead Space 2: Collector’s EditionBuy Now!
Comes with the game, of course, but also a replica of Isaac’s Plasma Cutter gun (with LED lights), a lithograph showing a Necromorph in mid-transformation (hint: it’s probably not adorable), some exclusive in-game items, and the game’s soundtrack (hint: it’s probably not soothing). (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC)

Two Worlds IITwo Worlds IIBuy Now!
This is the sequel to the fantasy action-adventure RPG Two Worlds, all about mythical kingdoms with exceedingly silly names fighting monsters and such. But the real mystery is the game’s title. Two Worlds II? What does that even mean? Are there four worlds now? (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC)

Lord of ArcanaLord of ArcanaBuy Now!
So there’s a magic stone called Arcana in this action fantasy game, which requires players to kill bunches of monsters in order to wield it. It seems like the stone’s the one with the issues, but maybe that’s why we don’t make these games. (Sony PSP)

Paws & Claws: Marine RescuePaws & Claws: Marine RescueBuy Now!
This is a veterinarian simulator where kids can take care of sick critters like penguins, polar bears, dolphins and seals, and then release them back into the wild. We were hoping Paws & Claws would be about two doctors with a troubled but romantic past, but apparently not. (Nintendo DS)

ExorcistExorcistBuy Now!
Not based on the movie, but you still have to run around a Gothic village solving puzzles to defeat the Devil so… really, not even slightly like the movie. (PC)

John Daly's ProStroke GolfJohn Daly’s ProStroke GolfBuy Now!
Because you can’t have a game called “Tiger Woods’ ProStroke Golf” any more without everybody giggling. (PC)
