Many of you will be buying at least one new videogame console this Black Friday. But between all the stores and all the deals, it can be hard to figure which sale is actually right for you. Here’s a quick guide to all the console sales, and what we think is your best bet!
Best Buy — Limited Edition Nintendo DSi (red or green) holiday bundle with Mario Party game, $149.99
GameStop — Limited Edition Nintendo DSi (red or green) holiday bundle with Mario Party game and Fossil Fighters game or The Legendary Starfy game, $149.99
K-Mart — Limited Edition Nintendo DSi (red or green) holiday bundle with Mario Party game and a $25 gaming coupon, $149.99
Toys “R” Us — Limited Edition Nintendo DSi (red or green) holiday bundle with Mario Party game and a $25 gaming coupon, $149.99
Wal-Mart — Nintendo DS Lite, $89.00
Best Bet: K-Mart. The extra games with the GameStop game aren’t good, and TRU’s DS Essentials Kit is only worth $15 tops. And if you’re thinking about Wal-Mart, note that’s the older DS Lite — it’s cheap because everyone’s moved on to the DSi.
Sears — Limited Edition PSP-3000 holiday bundle with LittleBigPlanet game and The Karate Kid UMD movie, $129.99
GameStop — Limited Edition PSP-3000 holiday bundle with LittleBigPlanet game and The Karate Kid UMD movie, $129.99
Best Bet: Same thing. But remember, very few people will be shopping at Sears for videogames on Black Friday. However, there will be plenty of people there shopping for other things.
Best Buy — 160GB Playstation 3 bundle with LittleBigPlanet game, Modnation Racers game and Cars Blu-Ray movie, $299.99
GameStop — 160GB Playstation 3 bundle with God of War Collection game and God of War 3 game, $299.99
Wal-Mart — 160GB Playstation 3 bundle with “bonus,” $299.00 (doorbuster)
Best Bet: If you’re buying for a younger gamer, definitely Best Buy. If you’re buying for a teen, probably GameStop. Since Wal-Mart refuses to say what its “bonus” is, we don’t trust it.
K-Mart — Nintendo Wii (white or black) with MotionPlus controller, Wii Sports game and Wii Sports Resort game, $199.99
Best Buy — Nintendo Wii (white or black) with MotionPlus controller, Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, $169.99
GameStop — Nintendo Wii (white or black) with Wii Sports game, Wii Sports Resort, and Just Dance game for free, $199.99
Wal-Mart —Nintendo Wii (red) Limited Edition console with MotionPlus controller, Wii Sports game and New Super Mario Bros. Wii game. $199.99
Best Bet: They’re all almost even value-wise, so go with Wal-Mart’s deal if you’re buying for one person, and Best Buy or K-Mart if you want the Wii to be family fun.
Best Buy — 4GB Xbox 360 bundle with Lego Star Wars game, Lego Batman game, and Lego Indiana Jones game, $199.99
GameStop — 4GB Xbox 360 bundle with Madden NFL 11 game or Medal of Honor game, $199.99
K-Mart — 4GB Xbox 360 bundle with Call of Duty: Black Ops game, $199.99
Wal-Mart — 4GB Xbox 360 bundle with “bonus,” $199.99
Best Bet: Definitely K-Mart, unless Wal-Mart actually says what their “bonus” is. Call of Duty: Black Ops is a new, hot game, and all the other pack-ins are pretty old. If your gamer is young enough that you’re considered the Best Buy set with the Lego games, you might want to switch to the more kid-friendly Wii.
Nintendo DSi
Sony PSP
PlayStation 3
Xbox 360
