AndyRobertson wrote the blog post Some Reasons to Buy Xbox Kinect (July 21 at 3:17am)

Now that Kinect is in its second year I thought it would be interesting to see what video games it has coming up for it. Here are the Kinect games that really stand out for me and are being released in the run up to Christmas: Leedmees uses your body to guide its hapless tiny travelers home. While this full-body iteration of Lemmings meets Twister is perfectly pitched and well executed, the real excitement is the theater it creates in your living room.  Leedmees is a fresh little...

AndyRobertson wrote the blog post Golf without the Green Fees and Tee Times (April 6 at 5:28am)

I was slightly disappointed not to see Tiger Woods 3DS as a launch title on Nintendo’s new portable console, but I think this simply reflects the fact that it takes a lot of time and investment to make a top tier golf game. Tiger Woods Wii is a good case in point: although the seed of an exceptional golf game has been there since 2007, it’s only been the last couple of years that EA has really managed to nail it. Being an avid golfing fan, I’ve followed the series...

AndyRobertson wrote the blog post 3DS Launch Games For Your Family (March 23 at 8:37am)

The 3DS will finally arrive on Sunday 27th. It's Nintendo's new DS handheld games machine that has a 3D top screen and better graphics. While there are a few games that have got a lot of hype, there are also some real gems bubbling under the radar for one reason or another. Having a young family means that it is often these less popular titles that actually go down the best with the kids. I've already told the under 7's in our family that we will be turning the 3D screen off - until their...

Andrew I'd love to see Madden in 3D. Any news on 3D Mario games coming out? (March 23 at 9:39am)
AndyRobertson
AndyRobertson Nothing solid. The first Mario games on the 3DS will be classic Mario games available via the eShop - something I plan to blog about soon. (March 23 at 9:40am)
Jill
Jill You can't go wrong with the Lego Star Wars games. My daughter and I absolutely love them (as well as the Lego Indiana Jones and Lego Batman video games.) They are a ton of fun and just the right level of challenging. It'd probably be a blast to play on the 3DS. (March 23 at 11:34am)
AndyRobertson
AndyRobertson You are right Jill. It's like playing the Wii game but you can play it anywhere you like and in 3D (for over 7's). (March 23 at 11:42am)
AndyRobertson wrote the blog post Kinect Games to Get Excited About (March 18 at 5:41am)

I got pretty excited about Kinect when it launched. It seemed to offer so many new possibilities. It let you play the Xbox 360 by standing infront of a camera and moving around rather than holding a controller. Now that the 3DS is almost here, it's easy to think that Kinect is all over. After a bit of research though I'm pleased to report that there are plenty of Kinect games coming up that families can be excited about. Here are the ones that my family are most looking forward to:...

Jill
Jill Kinect Carnival Games looks like it'd be a blast! My daughter has Carnival Games on her DS and she loves it. I've been considering getting the Xbox 360 Kinect bundle for a little while now. If they keep coming out with great games like this, I may be swayed to finally go for it. (March 18 at 10:21am)
Andrew
Andrew My kids love the Carnival game on the DS and on the Wii. I don't have a Kinect (yet!) but this just adds more ammunition to the pile. Maybe I'll get one for my birthday this summer... (March 18 at 10:41am)
AndyRobertson
AndyRobertson Yes I think it is good that Microsoft are really supporting this well. (March 18 at 1:54pm)
AndyRobertson wrote the blog post Games for Tiny Little Gamers (3-5 yrs) (March 10 at 9:07am)

There are a lot of games that have the ESRB Everyone logo on them. But many of these are too complicated for very young gamers to enjoy. The logo is a mark of whether the game is appropriate for these age groups rather than a mark of how easy or enjoyable the game will be for them. In our family we've struggled to find games that our three and four year olds can play. Over the last couple of years I've been keeping notes about which games worked the best for them. Here's my list of game that...

Andrew I'm going to have to check out Pac N Roll. My 5 year old is a bit more advanced only because his older brother has been playing every possible Mario game in existence for the last few years. But he may like Pac n Roll and even Peggle looks neat. (March 10 at 10:53am)

AndyRobertson wrote the blog post Getting ready for the 3DS (March 3 at 10:33am)

My kids have loved playing with their Nintendo DS's over the years but are now getting rather excited about the 3DS. It doesn't sound all that different I know, but a 3D screen, motion sensors, 3D movies and camera as well as a new eStore to buy retro and new games make it quite a tempting package. If you've not come across it already, the 3DS is the next new DS. It has a top 3D screen that is viewed without glasses. This can be used to play 3D games and watch 3D films. The graphics are much...

Adam
Adam Netflix on a 3DS? This sounds promising. So the system is Wi-Fi? (March 3 at 11:47am)
AndyRobertson
AndyRobertson Yes it is Wi-fi and supports more protocols than the original DS. (March 3 at 11:53am)
AndyRobertson
AndyRobertson It is surprisingly good actually, although a little tiring on the eyes after a long time playing. Good reason to not play for too long. :) (March 4 at 2:30am)
