Review: Better Homes & Gardens New Junior Cook Book

Messy, Unhealthy Recipes

(January 13 at 12:25pm)

The kids were excited to receive this cookbook from a friend, but, upon further inspection, most of these recipes are sugar-filled and look kind-of nasty. They may be fun for kids to make, but I'm not sure many of these are edible. I'd look for a cookbook with healthier items if you are looking for edible treats!

Review: Deni Yogurt Maker

Great Price Works Well!

(January 13 at 12:07pm)

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas present since he loves yogurt. It was, by far, the cheapest yogurt maker I found and it works very well! It comes with the jars for yogurt and several recipes and directions. This makes for a wonderful present!

Well, our yard is still filled with snow and going back to school is not looking like it's in the near future. :( Ugh! I think I am going to brave the roads this afternoon, though. I'm sure the interstate is just fine. I have to get out and about, though. Otherwise, I'm bound to go insane. hehe

Just curious- Do you think it's easier to train boys or girls? What was your secret to training your children? Seriously, I need some help.

edith143
edith143 when you find one let me know lol, I heard girls are easier but my little one is hard head :) (January 11 at 12:01am)
DaveB
DaveB I've trained both and I agree with edith143... equally hard. Each kid is different and responds to different incentives. Some kids will respond to peer pressure (ie, seeing other kids their age do it), others respond to rewards. One thing that helped us was a video that came out from Bear and the Big Blue House which we have on video tape (had to bust out the ol' VCR to play it, too!). Naturally, it's on YouTube now... check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LInXJFXpVvo (January 11 at 10:42am)

Review: Fisher-Price My First Skate Boy's

Good For Beginners

(January 10 at 9:11pm)

My son loved his Fisher-Price 1st Skates. The only problem is that the smallest size is still huge, even for a 3 and 4 year old. It's probably too big for even a 5 year old, but by then they should be wearing regular skates. I double up on socks and the velcro helps them stay put pretty well. The great thing about these skates is that the wheels are thick and there are 2 levels (ours have 3)... more

Review: Pop Goes Froggio Game

Hard to push down

(January 10 at 9:08pm)

The kids got a kick out of this game, but the lily pad you push to release Froggio is actually pretty hard to push down for younger kids. I had to push it for them, but they still wanted to try to do it themselves, of course. Kids over the age of 4 should be able to push it without a problem. I like that there are 2 game level options for younger and older kids. It's a fun game, but wish they... more

Review: Scrabble Flash Game

Love this game!

(January 10 at 9:05pm)

I love scrabble and Scrabble Flash is an awesome addition to the line of Scrabble games! There are 3 different games to play along with a multiple player option. I love that I can play by myself! You can choose to only make 4-letter words for beginners and younger kids, too, so it's great for adults and children alike! My nephew actually plays this at school in his English class and I think... more

Review: Kodak Mini Waterproof Video Camcorder

Love It!

(January 9 at 9:48pm)

It's compact, fun, and simple to use! Gone are the days of the huge camcorders. Even the smaller ones are a pain to drag out at just the right moment. The Kodak mini can fit in your pocket easily and turns on at the click of a button. It comes with some memory, but I bought extra because the Mini not only records video, but takes decent pictures. It's not 10 mps or anything that clear, but good... more

Review: Aquadoodle Toy Story 3 Wall Runner

Not worth the money

(January 9 at 9:45pm)

I have to agree with the first review that the "runner" is very, very small. I was expecting something much bigger. Unlike the other Aquadoodle products, this runner is super-thin, too, so, water can go right through it to the wall and ruined our paint job in the living room. I am completely unhappy with this, but I give it two stars because the grandkids do love it. Plus, at Christmas I found... more

Review: Leapfrog ClickStart My First Computer - Pink

Great For Toddlers!

(January 9 at 9:43pm)

This is the perfect item for toddlers who are interested in electronics. I know my nephew always wants to use my computer so, I bought him this for Christmas and he is in love with it. Not only is he learning his alphabet, but there are learning games you can use with it to make learning fun. This is a great deal. I love Leapfrog products. They never let me down.

wordmom wrote the blog post Shopping (January 9 at 9:31pm)

Why is it that when you go grocery shopping you inevitably forget something? It never fails that I forget something essential like toilet paper or cat food. lol

Adam
Adam Keep a list! My wife and I use the Notepad app in our Blackberries to keep a running grocery list, so it's easy to add something when you think of it, and it's easy to read the list while you're shopping. (January 10 at 10:00am)
wordmom
wordmom I keep a list, too, but somehow it still happens. LOL! It doesn't help that half the time I either leave the list in the car or don't bring it out until I'm actually in line, though. haha! That's a great idea to store it on my phone, though! (January 10 at 9:12pm)
